As the foreign policies of the Hillary Clinton and the Obama administration could best be described as a debacle, they are exemplified in Afghanistan. This is a country where the Taliban are preparing to re-take the country, instill chaos, death and destruction. As a result of the impending doom, business and investors are fleeing faster than rats leaping from a sinking ship. Afghanistan is a country with so much natural resource and economic potential, but it is simply unable or unwilling to deal with it's internal problems, to establish a infrastructure that begins with a stable government, security for the people, and a structure of laws that permits investment and economic activity to flourish. It appears that this tremendous potential will remain unrealized for the foreseeable future.
It appears that the US Welfare (massive amounts of foreign aid) have done little to allow the Afghan people to prosper, which is the same as it does in the USA. It creates no entrepreneurs with good ideas and the burning desire to make them a reality, but rather simply welfare recipients, waiting for the next handout. And, like all socialistic policies, when it runs out of other people's money, it collapses. This is best exemplified from a phrase from book written a long time ago, "When you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. When you teach a man to fish you feed him for a lifetime."
Ultimately the responsibility is with the Afghan people, as it is their future at stake, and they simply do not appear to care enough to embrace that responsibility, and the results will be a return to AD 600 in a 2014 world, regressing two millennia.
