Significant issues the unapprised left wing say are "the right way to go", effect our every day lives and finances. So why is it that none want to tell the truth about matters concerning the environmental issues and their real costs? Is it the fact that anything "environmental" is politically correct, and anyone doubting the "trinity" of the environmental movement become blasphemous if they dissent, and destined for the "environmental hell"? Perhaps it is the fear of lawsuits from the army of tree hugger attorneys, willing to sue anyone for anything they deem "not environmentally friendly"? I hope it is the latter, and one of the 'green clowns' decides to sue me. No, it is because the major environmental organizations, like the old time crime organizations, have a hidden agenda to push the American people into their left winged corner, forcing them into bad decisions, which will benefit the left winged environmental organizations by increasing their fund raising and hence their revenues and power. It is all about power and control. For example, the hottest, trendiest automobile in California, for the tree huggers, is the Toyota Prius, a Hybrid automobile. A hybrid is a auto that runs on a internal combustion engine, but is assisted by a battery (lithium ion) for electric power, where this battery is charged by energy from the gasoline engine. These autos have been touted as the 'optimum' tree hugger auto. However, since tree huggers are not very bright, they do not know, or they don't ever mention the actual cost of a hybrid. I do, since I compared it with a typical economy model of automobile, the Toyota Corolla (to keep the comparison simple and in the same family of autos). According to Toyota Motor Company, the Prius cost $22,175 and gets an average of 51 miles per gallon. The Corolla costs $14,205 and gets 41 miles per gallon. I don't know anyone that purchased a Prius in California for less than $30,000 and many were closer to $40,000, but let's use Toyota's numbers for comparison. Using an annual miles driven of 15,000, and a average cost per gallon of gasoline of $3/gallon, the Prius would use $882.25 worth of gasoline each year, while the Corolla would use $1,097.56 worth of gas each year. This makes the Prius's fuel savings $215.21 per year. Now, assuming a 5 year life of the vehicle (typical), and taking the Net Present Value of Annuities over the 5 year life, this annual savings is worth $931.85 in today's dollars. Now for the big numbers, the Pruis cost $22,175 and the Corolla cost $14,205, for a difference of $7,970. The prius has a net present value of 5 years fuel savings of $931.85, which is subtracted from the difference to obtain the net difference in today's cost of $7,038.15. That's right, you are $7,038 better off in buying a internal combustion auto than a Tree Hugger Prius. Wow!! Why has no newspaper, news program, television "science" program ever pointed this out? They are staffed by typical brainwashed left wingers, who espouse the tree hugger philosophy, whatever it is. Environmentalists are today's Communists. Communism is the worst, most inefficient form of government, and tree hugger decisions are the worst, most inefficient decisions that can be made. They selectively use snippets from "scientific" studies to advertise their point, and no one ever presents the real value of their bad science and even worse economics, for public consumption. Further more, the lithium ion battery's life is dependent solely upon it's age, not it's use. So a 3 year old lithium ion battery will be only 40% as efficient as it was when new, due to the fact that they loose 20% of their capacity each year, whether they are used or not. Factor this into the equation, and it is not hard to imagine the scenario of who is getting the shaft, with each Prius and Hybrid sold. And no, you will never see this in print or any media, either, since it is not endorsed by the myriad of environmental communistic organizations around the globe. It is a fact, though, an indisputable fact, based solely on science, not wishful thinking and bad ideas. What next? Perhaps they will tell us that we should all put solar powered windmills in our yards to take advantage of solar storms to power our homes and businesses. Whatever it is, it will be equally ludicrous, you can count on that |
