Mining Companies Are Good Neighbors What Some Mining Companies are Doing In Their Communities   A major gold mining company in Elko NV is a supporter of the Boys & Girls Club of Elko, shown in the photo at left Barrick is shown giving a check for $25,000 to the local community organization. Barrick, Newmont and the other mining companies in the Elko area are big supporters of many community activities and organizations, thereby increasing the quality of life for the residents of this area, where they employ many of the residents and operate several large mines.    Barrick Goldstrike Mine in Elko is also a major contributor of the Nevada Chukar Foundation, which is currently mounting a project to re-introduce the Sharptail Grouse into Nevada.
